DTV4PC Review
Thursday, August 2, 2007 10:46 pmSpam Today
So I got an email from Farstone in my inbox today. I had bought some other software from them quite some time ago and still get spam from them. Today’s email was kind of intriguing though. It describes a new product called Digital TV for PC (DTV4PC).
I checked out their “live demo” which is a live feed of CNN. The quality looked good. It was clearly webcast quality but appeared to be high bitrate and looked pretty decent. I then googled for reviews and couldn’t find a single one. I thought it might be fun to plop down the cash and be the first to take a crack at it.
The website advertises over 1,000 channels available for your viewing. They claim this is 100% legal. It loosk to me to be legit. It seems that they are just aggregating existing free feeds into a Windows front end.
PS - Yes I know this is why spammers exist, because every once in a while someone (like me today) will bite. Sorry in advance…
What content is available?
Channels can be sorted many ways such as most popular, by genre, by country, etc. I chose to first view the channels based here in America. At the time of this review, 334 (323 unique) USA channels are listed. Breaking this down:
4 of these are weather channels (including the actual “The Weather Channel”)
There are 2 travel channels. One is a no name, the other is GlobeTrekker TV.
17 channels are sports related. Both ESPN and ESPN Sports are listed as choices in the channel browser but I have not yet been able to connect to these channels. One of the MLB channels is listed and did work. Also one interesting channel of note in this category is the “Backyard Wrestling Network” which although seems to be an amateur produced “channel” it was fairly hilarious to watch.
11 of the channels are shopping related (read QVC and Home Shopping Network)
11 of the channels are religious programming of the UHF and Sunday morning infomercial variety.
There is a single channel in the “Reality” category which was just playing video tapes of local rap shows every time I tuned in.
9 of the chnnels are in the politics genre. All of these are local government cable access feeds.
33 of the channels are in the news category. The worthwhile ones here are live feeds of BBC, CNN, CSPAN, CNBC, Sky news, and Bloomberg. The rest are local news channels consisting of the alternate programming on HDTV channels. ABC news now is also available (sort of like on-demand). It’s not actually a channel but a news summary that starts playing from the beginning when you select this channel.
There is a single channel in the “nature” category. I was only able to briefly connect to this channel but it appeared to just be a webcam pointing out into a park or possibly a yard.
There are 34 audio only channels. It’s the same fare you get on cable, satellite, or XM radio.
6 channels are in the “movies” category. All of them are no names. Though the “horror channel” did sound interesting, I was never able to connect to it.
4 channels occupy the “lifestyle” genre. One of them was broadcasting an interview with a farmer talking about how to increase yields (on the country channel). The lifestyle channel was playing an into to prenatal yoga video.
There are 2 channels in the comedy category. Both were no names. One was broadcasting shows from tv.com.
19 of the channels are listed as “government”. These are rebroadcasts of local government cable access feeds.
107 channels are in the general category. Any of you have an OTA (over the air) HDTV receiver to pick up local HD stations? You know how a lot of local stations will broadcast non-stop weather or repeats of their newscasts on their alternate HDTV channels? A lot of these are rebroadcasts of that same OTA programming. Some interesting things in this category are “Tom Green Live!” (non stop Tom Green comedy), NASA TV is here, other wacky stuff is in here that appears to be local tv stations that are fairy low budget.
There are 3 gamer channels. One’s description said it showed live on-line gaming. I wasn’t able to connect to it though. the other two were not in english and one repeatedly would go to re-buffer the stream.
There are 5 in the finance category. Bloomberg and CNBC are repeated here (they also appear in the news category).
11 appear in the entertainment category. “The Sci-Fi channel” is listed but it’s not the one you know from cable, satellite, or scifi.com
38 channels are listed in the educational category. 3 different NASA TV channels appear (1 is a dup previously listed). A live webcam from monterey bay aquarium is a channel as well. “The earth channel” wasn’t too bad. It even borders on actually being worthwhile. Appeared to be a knockoff of PBS Nova or The discovery channel.
4 channels are listed in the cartoon category, including “The cartoon network”. Alas, this is also a knock off and not the actual “Cartoon Network”. The knockoff was playing very old no-name cartoons with an occasional old Bugs Bunny thrown in.
1 Comedy channel is listed. It was a no name as well but wasn’t too bad. Appeared to be showing tapes of recorded performances from local comedy clubs.
Note that some of the other things listed on the website (such as MTV) are available from other countries. For example the only MTV channel available is from New Zealand. So if you want to see the latest hit videos from down under and watch VJ’s with accents you can tune in. Don’t expect to see any of the popular stuff from America here though. The CBC is available in Canada.
How’s the picture and sound quality?
Now I can see why they chose CNN as their demo channel. There is very little movement and the audio is primarily human speech. This eliminates most picture artifacts as there is no fast action and allows more of the bandwidth to go to video since there isn’t much in the way of audio.
I suppose I should let you know I am on a DSL line from Qwest. I am paying for 1.5 down/768 up but according to dslreports I am actually getting almost 2 down and 896 up.
On some channels I was never able to connect (see ESPN in particular) and on a few others I was constantly buffering and the stream would stall. In my informal, non-scientific review I would estimate roughly 15% of the channels gave me trouble. The vast majority of the working channels streamed well. There was no rebuffering or hiccups.
The quality was exactly that of any video you’d find on a news website. Go to cnn.com and watch one of their videos. That’s pretty much what you’re in for. Looks ok in a window. Looks horrible full screen.
The program itself
It’s a 14 meg download. There is very little configuration aside from selecting a color scheme or skin. The channel list is sortable and searchable. You can bookmark channels you find interesting to a custom channel list. Basically it looks very much like a stripped down version of Windows media player. Installed easily. Didn’t put in any spyware that I have yet been able to detect.
Summary
So in summary, what is available that the average person might have heard of? Well CNN, Bloomberg, CSPAN, CNBC, NASA TV, ESPN (if it ever works) and BBC. The interesting finds I found? Pretty slim. The Earth Channel and Backyard Wrestling Network were kind of fun.
So it boils down to, would you pay $29.95 for a Windows-only program that would allow you to watch low-quality versions of these channels on your PC? Available at: http://www.dtvforpc.com
***Update 5/31/2008*** Just hit 25,000 views on this blog post this morning. Thanks to everyone for the comments. I think we’ve saved people some serious money!

100 Responses to “DTV4PC Review”
Thanks for the review. I just got an email from SmithMicro about this and I too have been spammed by them from a previous purchase. Your assessment is what I expected, but thanks to you, I don’t have to plunk down the $30 to find out. That really fringes on false advertising on their part — 1,000 channels and more than cable or satellite without pay-per-view, etc.
Thanks for that, I nearly bit! very little on the web about this actual software. Truth is there are lots of websites that make the same claims but are free, yet not even worht the price!
d
I got the spam to from the Digital River list,
I scoured the DTV4PC website for a full channel listing and didn’t find one so thanks for the review, saved me the $40 bucks. It did seem too good and then there was a link that said stuff like “Act Now” and “Two Free Gifts”
Man, this seemed like a great way to get off the cable tit. I wish there was a better way to get television shows and be legit, to bad this wasn’t it.
This is a very helpful review. I must say that I’ve downloaded & paid for one similar software. I did find another one or two available at “Download.com” for free, with a similar channel selection. (I don’t recall the names, because I’ve reformatted since then). I also use the free “Pando” software for downloading CNN and NBC daily summaries, which is a nice alternative to viewing the entire report live.
Phew! I wish you could package this review and send it out as spam. The SmithMicro spam was very enticing to me. Now that I’ve seen someone else’s experience, there is a collective sigh of my soul at the thought of not plunking down $29. Well . . . not today, anyway. I think we’re all tired of paying $79.99 for cable and dish. But, if it were only $29.99 one time, I’m sure the broadcast networks would find a way to block it — just ask Napster.
Thanks for this review. I received the offer from Ashampoo, and the link brings you to various dtv4pc pages. This one seems to start out at $19.99 but you can add things (programming packets?), each being an additional $9.99.

I was about to bite on this offer. You saved me 20 bucks.
I just purchased it through Ashampoo after trying it ,it seems to me you are being too generous in your review, most channels did not access and the ones I would like to watch as live (European news) were looped shows several days old.
Got his from digital river… It sounded good and I am glad to have not been taken in..
dtv4pc looks like a scam to me.
see what happed to this guy…

I decided to give it a try — since downloading I’ve had numberous glitches with my other applications — maybe the System A1 that is downloaded with it and is busily building vitutal computers in my system is the problem — or some sort of incompatibiltiy with Norton — or just more VISTA strangeness. I’m a novice at this stuff but am getting ready to delete it all and see if that helps. Frankly, the lure of watching Bloomington IN local programing is just not enough to make it worth taking up space.
Whew! Thanks for doing for us what I was about to try. Two years back, I too bought similar software which included a System A1 clone as well. I too went through Beth’s experience and suffered a similar fate, including system degradation, storage waste and the Norton twists-and-turns roller coaster ride. So I too had to flush out and readjust both my PC and my then brand new laptop.
I got my offer via WNBC-TV affiliate WeatherBug’s ad (guess they don’t care what they advertise either). But after previously wasting some hard-earned cash and suffering recovery anxiety, this time I Google’d for reviews. Thanks everybody for sharing your valuable, appreciated info., stories and opinions.
Drat! I should have Google searched DTV4PC before I got suckered…
I would have seen your website earlier. You’d think by now I would be more savvy to scams!
To make things worse, these clowns haven’t even sent me the so called ‘license key’ to get their software to work, inspite of their website indicating I didn’t need one when I purchased it.
Of course, no response to my Emails…what a jerk I am
Thanks very much for the info. Saved myself $30 and some frustration. Thanks again for this great info.
Thanks so much for your review.
I was just about to bite, and buy this just to see if it could work for my use. Too Bad its a scam, like others I’m tired of the price of cable for mostly junk stations.
Thanks again you saved me time money and frustration.
Thanks for your review I recieved spam from ashampoo.I figured it was not worth it but you confirmed it.
Everyone Please “BEWARE” that on Ebay there is a sellar selling a similar junk for $2.99 . U get two software program
!. TVU
2. Satellite TV 4 pc
Both of these software works just like DTV 4 Pc..
On the adverstisement thats where I saw the ad for DTV 4 PC
When I open the DTV 4 PC site I saw that they are sell TVU as an add-on for $9.99 what a JOKe!
When I tried to close the sight an IM box opens and a virtual agent tries to give DTV 4 PC to me at a discount price $15.99
What a CRook!!
You saved me too….and I apreciate it!
Thanks, you just saved me $50
I am always a total sucker for this stuff…Of coarse I bought it! I wanted to convince myself that it wasn’t worth the money, I thought maybe, just maybe, I could cancel cable. :-).
I have got my refund request in the works. Let’s see how it goes.
-Adam
Got the same tease for DTV4PC from Ashampoo today — the price is down to $19.99 and I almost went for it in a sort of “what the heck” moment. Glad I decided to check it out further. Thanks for the savings! I think I’ll donate it to a local charity for Christmas…
If anyone is still interested in this, you can get it - at least right now - for $15.99 at
http://www.dtv4pc.com/ep/buy_e.php?crcat=dtvexitpop&crsource=delfin
I appreciate the review very much. Even for $15.99, I cannot make up my mind if it is worth it since I have cable TV in the US. This would be of interest to me mostly for international channels.
Thanks for the review, it’s saved me $30.
You can find all of these channels and more FREE on wwiTV.com.
Tommy
Saved by the review just in time. Put that 50 bucks in the rainy day jar! THANKS
I had put in a request for information at PC World because I could not find anything about this either. Still gettting those SmithMicro emails! This is very helpful and eyeopening - I was definitely suspicious of this and you confirmed what I needed to know.
thx for the info. saved me the head ache
I’ve only had it for one day, but so far I’m happy. I’ve been doing without cable for several months since I’ve moved, and don’t pick up any channels at all, so I’ve been getting by with Netflix and computer news. I miss CNN and other news programs, and this seems to work well for my needs. I only paid $20 for the most basic program, and to me it’s worth it even if I can only watch CNN. I’ll let you know if I change my mind, though.
Yeah, I almost bit too. I’m interested in knowing how Emichel gets along with it though as I live in Europe and miss watching tv in English, though it seems from everybody’s experience that there aren’t any worthwhile stations available. I got the offer through DAP. The site claims you can watch NBC and CBS, that there’s video on demand and such. Anyway, I hope you can let us know your experience after a week or son, Emichel. Who knows, maybe they’ve improved.
Thanks
I watch TV on my PC for FREE. Google Joost and download. Enjoy!
This proggie is bogus. I got scammed out of $12.95 on Ebay for something very similar - and 99% of the hosts were unreachable, and what I could reach was, crap.
If you’re a news junkie and like foreign news, try http://www.jump.tv. They have Al Jazeera in English, and a bunch of other stuff. Some are priced per month (from $4.95 to $9.95) but they have lots of free, foreign-language content too, and it runs in Media Player - nothing to download. Happy trails!
Thanks for saving my $30
God bless you
Try Rus” program that will probably be better than spending the $19.99 they want for DTV4pc.
Thanks for the review.
I happened to get this thru email from reputable SmithMicro. I almost went for it, but it sounded too good to be true. Thanks for all the comments I read in this column and saved me $25 and a lot of aggravation.
This is for sale for $19.99 AR in Micro Center’s paper ad.
Thanks for the review. When I saw the ad I figured I’d search around.
Thanks for taking the time to tell everyone the facts.
Ditto to all the thanks and saving comments above! Need more blogs like yours!
[...] popular and in-depth review from Chris at RGBscan.com has attracted a lot of praise for its straightforward and detailed [...]
I’m a little surprised that so many would object to receiving emails after doing business with a company and call followup “spam”. It’s seems a bit like complaining about commercials on free broadcast tv or radio.
I’m not trying to start an argument or raise anyone’s vitriol, but this type of software is the wave of the future.
After 20 plus years in radio, tv and advertising, the most baffling element of all this is that the entertainment world has not tumbled to how much commercial money could be made by providing quality programming in this venue. God knows, there are millions of us who are tired of the cable/satellite monopoly.
As to the software, I’m comfortable with putting up the 20 and waiting for the world to find us.
At least there’s no monthly fee so no 800 bucks a year to watch constant repeats of “hits” from the last decade.
Thanks for the time, no offense intended.
Thanks for your honest and practical report on DTV4PC……….
A friend asked me to check out same for him and I am happy to advise not to bother with this program……..
I have FTA Satellite and most of the programs coming from the over 3,000 channels are worthless too………’
If any new legit software pops-up,please let me know….
Thanks again…….
William
Today (Feb. 6, 2008) I received similar offer-spam today from buy.com weekly deal, $27.99 and 20 mail in rebate. Thanks for all your comments I was about to buy it. I did not
I am so glad. Thanks to all of you. From the previous reviews I tried wwiTV.com, http://www.joost.com, and jump.tv try to get channels from Mexico (I live USA, St. Louis) , there are few but none of them widely known, only locals and not best I believe. Quality of that fee TV not good either, delays, streaming, slow the PC, etc. Thanks to you all!
Often you can get your credit card company to do a chargeback and get your money back if its a scam
Thanks for the review it was for sale for 9.99 at deals2buy…..Thanks for saving many peoples money….
Thanks for the heads up, it pays to google search before purchasing new software online. I almost bit too, glad I found your site, many thanks!
Spam from Watch Internet TV. A BIG thanks to those who have paid money to explore the scam and saving the rest of us lots of money.
Was just about “hooked” Glad you were out there to reveal the bait.
Jim
Thank you for your review. If you could cash in all the money saved by people like me you’d get rich quick.
I also fell for the one on e-bay and deleated it within a couple of hours. Load of rubbish!!!!!!
Dee
Well done for this excellent review. It’s bang on the button as far as I’m concerned. I bought a siminlar promise from info@satelite-tv-software.com called Satellite TV Software 2007. Very disappointing. All rubbish channels as described in the review of DTV4PC. It was a $12 offer so hardly a risk. But a great moneymaker if yuo fool some of the people all some of the time. Wish I’d thought of it.
Now if someone brought out a channel that could correct lousy spelling……..
Hi and like many other people = thanks for this review. I live in the UK and got an email today about this offer. I wondered what UK channels might be available so I put the name in altavista which in turn brought em to hte review. I will not be buying………..thanks again, Bob.
Thanks, for this very helpful review. I too, along with my son was almost taken in by this scam with the hope that we could watch some sport channels for relatively little outlay. We would have been very disappointed!! I will not be purchasing this. Thanks once again Bob!
Well my question was if it play hd .The thing that troubles me is when a site has no contact information. So I run from the site if no contact because it smells of somethigns wrong .
Thanks! I’ve been wanting to cut my cable TV down to basic because there is so little I want to watch. About the only channel I would miss is CNBC, which I have on in Picture In Picture mode while working on my computer all day, so I can keep up with financial news, which is sort of a “hobby” and helps keep me from losing my shirt at times. As long as that one is avail. on this, I can proceed to cut back on my monthly cable bill.
For you guys that have gotten suckered its also on Ashampoo, many of these are pretty much just scams and if you do download scan the software with as many anti virus and anti spam stuff.
You also might like to know that you can get the original type software from TVU for free from http://tvunetworks.com/ careful there are many spoof copies, this was also “sold” by Ashampoo in Germany and so on and so forth.
As far as I can work out they hijack programmes and then sell them on.
There was another guy in the UK and I tracked him down address and all got the download hits (about £400,000) and he lived in a council house in Kings Lynn. Notified the UK Norfolk police and because they are possibly the most corrupt in the UK they did nothing.
G’day. That’s what I call a review. I received the offer for DTV4PC via Ashampoo and thought “this looks OK, it’s from a reputable firm…”, nearly signed up but thought I’d better do a search for comments about the product. Eighty percent or more of all comments says this is a shonky deal, a real furphy, not to be touched by a forty foot pole. I’m an old bloke (76) looking to keep the grey matter active and enjoy my PC, but thanks to you and similar I wont be touching this. Thanks mate, have one on me.
Thanks very much for this review. Ive wasted too much time and money trying to connect to tv over the internet mainly for premier league games. I reckon these scams are set up by Rupert Murdoch to convince us that Sky is the only real option!
i just got taken for 49.99 by dtvfotpc. i am not able to even get into a program to download. boy do i feel stupid. is there anything i can do to recover my money? i am going to call my visa now.
i use torrents to get everything free so no money wasted just google what u need and put torrents behind it.
thanks a lot for this review. this fish almost took the worm.
Watch out for this BS TV. I was dupped for the NHL Playoffs and no where in the comminucation with this comapny is there any product registration code. I called them and they can’t asnwer my call-Leave a message. I called Visa and I have to take up my dispute with merchant.
I was taken. Please dont be a sucker like I
I had my offer through DTV 4 PC and decided to check them out as rather than being just a one-off payment of $30, there seemed to be three $10 add-ons which covered two years. So I hit the back button in order to find out which channels were in which category. I was immediately offred a one time only 20% reduction. Having read your review and other people’s problems, I think that I can afford not to take up their offer.
thank you so much for taking the time to give us your comments it is guys like you that really help idiots like me to not throw our money to the wind.
I will not purchase this item but I have to admit I was seriously tempted unil I read your review. Grateful thanks once again
WoW I just got anE-Mail from africa and won the Coca Calo 600 Lottery all I got to do is send the the Tax money and I ,m in like Flint and then I can afford DTV4PC …Nice report on the scam ..and you can pritty much get it all for free on line …wish there were internet cops for scams like this …Oh yeah there is its called common sense never buy anything from email without reading the reviews…well I had my fun Good luck everyone .good luck Slider…don,t forget to vote
This ones free and does everything they claim theres does that they charge $29.99 for, it has the american version of the sci-fi channel which means shit commercial breaks every 5 mins but at least its the coolest channel on the net…….http://www.tvunetworks.com/
Thanks a bundle for the review! It saved me the money!
And thank you PIERCED6966 for the name of a free version.
First, thanks for excellent review, I had an Ashampooo email too.
Second, I have used the free WINAMP for a while, and it DOES have some VID/TV feeds (not many good/active ones) - but it sounds like it may be on a par with the other “cheap” offers like the ones selling for $15 or so. At least it is free (and the music feeds and player are good).
THIRD: HUGH JORGAN - do you REALLY beleive you have won an African Lottery - or is this just a wind-up?? If you REALLY beleive you need to send “tax money” - “admin fees” etc - STOP NOW and use your brain. Please GOOGLE “advance fee fraud” - and save your cash - YOU HAVE BEEN DUPED. TD
Thanks a lot for this comprehensive review. I was tempted to buy, because i am living abroad an wanted to watch national television among some other channels. However, now i am convinced not to spent this 30 dollars
I know that “if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn’t any good” but I was about to go for deal.
Thank you so much for taking the time and expense to examine and report on this product. I really do appreciate it.
Add me to the list of people who are gratefull for your review. I became suspicious when I asked a simple question re: money back gauruntee ( sorry ’bout the spelling) and the automated agent did not understand. Thanks!
Thanks for the review. I cut down to basic cable because tv was wasting too much of my time, but now I really miss CNN. I can’t find anywhere to watch it for free and wonder if this DTV4PC might work for me.
Matt I read that you wanted to record TV from your PC So go to the Hauppage Website
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/products/data_pvr350.html. There you will find various ways you can set up your PC for TV. This DTV4PC is the biggest ripoff!! Don’t throw your money out.
Got mine from Factory Direct Deals (don’t know how I got on their list). Thanks for taking the time to review this product. Saved me $30 + S & H.
thank you for the info. you just saved me some money and alot of head anger. thank again milty.
Thanks for the comments. Sorry I did not read this before. It would have save me nearly forty dollars US. Nearly all channels listed are unavailable. Perhaps because I live in Jamaica and not in the US. I feel ripped off. I have just been scammed but I hope my comment will save others. The truth is that DTV4PC is not what it says. You will be greatly disappointed!
What a scam..why would you pay when you can just use http://www.freetube.us.tc - which lets you watch all those tv channels for free. No download, no bullshit.
These satellite tv programs are all scams - just check out the site I mentioned and you’ll see you can get it legally for free.
Thank all the poeple who commented on DTV4PC which appears
to be a scam
There are 2702 TV Channels available free without any special software
on your PC using wwiTV.com. Most are local TV’s of various countries,
and are usually not live, and very low band width, good enough for only a 2 x 3inch display.
Try them on: wwiTV.com
Thank you. You saved me $28.95. I was suspicious from the beginning. We are interested in watching german and french channels live. The company does not spell out any details about receiving foreign channels. I am glad I googled this company.
Thanks,
Las Vegas
This is why the PC is for internet and TV (plasma, LCD etc) was made to be watched (cable and satellite). for TV! At least it’s exercise to go from computer room to the living room.
Computer geeks (like me) should accept that as fact (at least for now) no DTV4PC has not cracked the code!
Thanks you saved me $50 they were trying to still from me….
THANKS A LOT….NOW I CAN GET THAT HAMSTER MY SON WANTED…INSTEAD OF WASTING MY MONEY!!!!! (he he)
WoW! Amazing..I am really glad i found this!! I was secs away from ordering! Thanks a billion
Thanks for saving me $30. I will just stick with my 12,000 programs available via Instant play with the Roku / Netflix Player… (If you are already a NetFlix member I recommend the $99 box for the instant streaming stuff since it does not increase your monthly fees at all…)
I just received that offer. Thank you soooo much for your very detailed review. I hope someone designs this type of software that really works.
Thanks also, filtered thru their add and figured it was BS. Appreciate the verification.
Thanks so very much for your review. I normally do not pay attention to spam. That one sneaked in my regular mail. I almost bit, but decided to see if there were any reviews. I found yours easy on a search. You saved me $30. Thanks again!!!!!
Thanks for the review. I got another choice to buy the software from http://www.1TVPC.com which is 29.99 for the premium TV plus free movies on demand. I have been using it for a while, then came across this article. You guys should have bought this software 1TVPC since it is different from 2 things:
1. Premium TV channels which are streamlined with third party platforms. Those channels are live and broadcast via Internet with peer 2 peer platform. It has Fox, ABC, HBO, ESPN, ESPN2, Spike, Scifi and even playboy.
2. It has FREE thousands of movies on demand. You may not believe it. The in theater movies are camcorder version. Those guys record movies in theater and then post it for users for free. I watched some interested movies like Batman for free which are more worthy than the price I paid.
I never tried out the DTVPC yet but this software is enough. I just love ESPN channel and Movies on demand. On Friday and Monday I got Wrestling on USA network and CW. That is all I want. I just shared some thoughts here. You can ask them for the channels you want, or if you need to clarify something. Their website is http://www.1TVPC.com
Thank you! I almost ordered this. I appreciate your review!
Thank you, thank you, thank you very much. You could save me 30 bucks.
Thank everyone. You just saved me $49.97. I can’t afford cable any more and am only getting little bits of news from web access on my cell phone and what comes in via the off-air antenna on my tv. i’m going to check out some of the sites suggested above. You all rock!
Isn’t the internet wonderful, you get the good, the bad and the ugly. I saved 30 dollars today. Lot’s of info to follow up on Thanks
I had visions of the “disconnection from Satellite.” I have a computer connected to my TV for internet access already. I knew if I looked for reviews I would find one that was informative. Laplink bundles it in a 6 program package for $49.95 if you respond in 48 hours.
The purpose of this product is to access 1000 channels. Is reads like the DirecTV, 568 channels Ad. I only watch about 7 channels for $59.95 a month. The other channels are useless also.
You reviewed the product without beating it to death. Seems like a pretty honest review so I will go with it.
Thanks for the heads up!
JUST REMEMBER the old saying if its sounds too good to be real then it is.
Thanks. I got an email this morning from leftmanque.net. I’ve gotten burned before, though, so I remembered “if it sounds to good to be true….” Before I bit I decided to do a search and I found this. Thank you so very much. You just saved me $50.00!!!
Hey Chris,
Thanks for such a comprehensive review about this software, which I got from Ashampoo via e-mail. The enticement was that it would only cost me a one off payment of $19.99, found you review via google and that save me the money.
My thanks also to the 2 people who posted links to free TV on internet, I have bookmarked them and will try them out later.
I got taken in - one of those, born every minute types I guess - but I still haven’t figured out how to download the application - on thier site the download button only asks you to purchase not download - Grrr - serves me right.
I got taken in too. It’s a bit of rubbish. Save your money.
Thanks for this review…I almost bit, then did a little searching for more info.
I found several bogus ‘reviews’ of various programs that I found to be obvious advertisements for their respective program. It was refreshing to read a genuine review.
I’ve previously downloaded 2 FREE programs that seem similar…Livestation & TVU.
I ended up uninstalling TVU because of the no-name blahblah programming. There was no sort by category feature & I didn’t have the time to look through every station for something worthwhile. If you have the time, you may want to check TVU out though.
I’m keeping Livestation though. My local cable dropped G4 from its lineup. No longer able to see a japanese show on G4, I found it on Livestation…worth keeping…free access to that one channel.
If everything in life could be this easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so!!!!!!!!!
It sounds like this outfit is offering what is free to all at:

I just got one trying to refund my money through credit card, it is as you said scum and nothing but lode of rubbish never work, this was my biggest mistake I ever done .
Thank you for blogging this review! I was investigating whether on not this would be a useful product. I am effectively $30 wealthier and it’s partly your fault!
Great Review…
If you have cable, or can afford sattelite, this is still not an option. If you are living abroad, with no cable acces, this is definitly a way to survive.
I´m surprised some folks are calling this a SCAM (not talking about Chris, who did an excellent and judgmental-free review). This is no scam… It’s the beginning of the future. Of course, if you want to compare it to a almost 30 years of experience Cable industry, it still is no match, but believe me, this is the future and its getting better every day.
As I said before, for people like me who live in no-cable and no-dish service (the no-dish is refutable, you can always take a decoder to any part of the world, but you need very big dishes the farther south you go, and then there is a point that satellites are so down in the horizon that they are blocked by buildings and mountains…)
So, its not “the” solution to unplug your cable, but it is a way to get some TV. My big question is if this is the “best” or if there is something else (even if I have to pay) better that will enable me to watch normal US TV (you know, LOST, Desperate Housewives, Saturday night live, etc) ??
thanks for the infos, like you said there is not much information available on this company, especially by them lol! One day im sure tv will be all you can eat over the internet but its not quite there yet i guess. thanks again.
